The ALT+A Association

The ALT+A Association is a non-governmental, non-profit, independent, apolitical, and public-benefit organisation. Its mission is to promote education, research, cultural and artistic exchange, and social responsibility, with a particular focus on architecture, urban planning, and visual arts.

Founded by architects Nely Vînău, Tiberiu Teodor-Stanciu, and Răzvan Mircea Nica, ALT+A has, since 2022, been organising the SF(a) workshop and lecture series. This initiative uses science-fiction cinema as a shared reference point to question architecture and society. Each edition is structured around a cult film and its corresponding architectural paradigm:

  • Blade Runner (Ridley Scott, 1982) – Postmodernism
  • Metropolis (Fritz Lang, 1927) – Modernism
  • A Clockwork Orange (Stanley Kubrick, 1971) – Brutalism

Through these explorations, ALT+A and SF(a) create a cross-disciplinary platform constantly in search of new educational alternatives in architecture and the visual arts.
